Congress remembered Indira Gandhi
Along with the entire nation, Tripura Pradesh Congress on Tuesday also remembered former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 39th death anniversary across the state.
Congress leaders and workers including former Chief Minister Samir Ranjan Barman, former PCC president and MLA Gopal Roy and PCC president Ashish Kumar Saha in Agartala paid floral tributes before a portrait of Indira Gandhi in front of Congress Bhavan on Tuesday morning and have also paid floral tributes at the Gandhi Ghat memorial place.
Congress also observed the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel in Congress Bhavan and in all districts of the state, where leaders of the party paid their floral tributes before the portraits of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Indira Gandhi.
Speaking with media persons MLA Gopal Roy and Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha said that the Pradesh Congress observing the day through different social works including a blood donation programme at the blood bank of GB Hospital and activists of Youth Congress and Mahila Congress donated blood units at the camp.
Congress leaders and workers paid floral tribute to a portrait of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in different parts of the state on her death anniversary on October 31. Gandhi was India's first woman Prime Minister. She was born on November 19, 1917 and was assassinated on October 31, 1984, a few months after she ordered the Operation Blue Star in Amritsar to counter the Punjab insurgency.
