Congress’s tribal conference on August 9th
In order to strengthen the party bases in grass-root level, especially in tribal areas of the state, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) will organize a conference of tribal leaders and workers of the party at ‘Muktadhara’ auditorium in Agartala on August 9 to mark the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples and the day on which the celebrated ‘quit India’ movement.
Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha said that the tribal conference will begin with ‘Adibashi Gourav Parva’ and party workers will organize a protest rally in Agartala against month’s long violence in Manipur
He said that the conference will begin at 11 AM and will continue all through the day, where tribal leaders and workers of the party from various parts of the state will participate to finalize an all-out effort to strengthen the grass-root level organization of the party. Along with many senior state leaders of the party, AICC secretary Ms Szarita Laitphlang will also present in the conference.
Saha said that there is a good support base for Congress in tribal dominated areas and the August 9th conference will finalise the party's activities and movements against long deprivation of tribal communities by the ruling BJP government.
