CPI (M) demand restriction over movements’ two ministers in poll bound Boxanagar, Dhanpur constituencies
Opposition CPI (M) state secretary once again on Tuesday sought the intervention of Election Commission of India (ECI) and demanded restrictions over the movement of one central and state minister for violating Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
CPI(M) state secretary and MLA Jitendra Chaudhury in his letter to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura Puneet Agarwal claimed that one central and a state minister are vitiating the election atmosphere in the poll bound Boxanagar and Dhanpur assembly constituencies, where by-polls will be held on September 5th next.
Chaudhury in his letter to the CEO and a copy of the ECI said that “on 20th August last, while campaigning for the BJP candidates at Bashpukur under 23-Dhanpur constituency, Union Minister of State Smt. Pratima Bhowmik and state Minister for Agriculture Ratan lal Nath assured the traders of Bashpukur market that a three-storied market building would be constructed in this market. Both of them also asked the traders to suggest the site of the market building and assured them that the government engineers would visit the place on 23rd August to make a plan and estimate for the building.”
He added that it is not a fact that neither of these BJP leaders are novice and ignorant of election rules. While MCC is in force, they have willfully made such promises to influence the electors in favour of BJP candidates in contravention to the MCC.
“As they have become so desperate to violate MCC by virtue of being central and state ministers, I request you, for the fairness of election, kindly to order forbidding their movement in the election-bound areas in both the constituencies and take appropriate measures against the violators,”, Chaudhury demanded.
