Cyber bully Saikat Talapatra again for 6 days police remand over Pradyot Kishore’s case
Cyber bully and self-styled journalist Saikat Talapatra, who is running a social media channel ‘Independent’ was again on Friday produced before courts after police remand and jail custody, the court sent him for six more days in police custody for a specific case and jail custody up to November 2nd for four cases against him.
Giving details of the cases filed against Saikat Talapatra, who was running a yellow journalism and blackmailing network with a help of an advocate, special public prosecutor Samrat Kar Bhowmik said that after seven days police remand and 14-days jail custody up to October 27 , the police personnel from West Agartala, West women police stations and Crime Branch produced him before five separate cases before the courts of Agartala.
In two cases, the Investigating Officer (IO) from West Agartala PS and Crime branch demanded for judicial custody in two separate cases and the courts of West Tripura Session judge and the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (West) send him for judicial custody up to November 2 next, said Kar Bhowmik.
In another case, filed by supremo of Tipra-Motha , Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, the police have demanded for seven more days of police custody for interrogation under several sections of IPC and SC-ST atrocities Act. Kar Bhowmik said that the investigation team has plead for the collection of his voice sample, signature matching and photographs in that case, in which Talapatra through social media channel ‘Independent’ has tarnish the image of Pradyot Kishore through fake news and had also tried to destroy the mutual boding of both tribal and non-tribal living in Tripura.
After hearing, the special judge Subasish Sharma Roy sent him for six more days’ police custody for interrogation and accused Talapatra will again be produced before the court on November 2nd next.
Earlier, in another case registered at West Agartala women police, case number 51/2023 by one Puja Roy against Saikat Talapatra and another advocate Raghunath Mukherjee with charges of extortion and blackmailing, the court send on October 16 had sent him for five days police custody up to October 20.
