Deep depression to cause 'heavy' to 'very heavy' rainfall in Tripura on Oct 24 to 26, IMD issued warnings
As of the latest bulletin of the regional office of MET department, all four days of Durga Puja have passed without rainfall, but has predicted heavy rainfalls on day of ‘Bijaya Dashami’ and issued warnings for next two days.
India Meteorological department (IMD) Agartala station in its weather forecast said that heavy to very heavy rainfall activity and squally wind 40-50 kmph gusting to 60kmph over Tripura from October 23rd to 26th next.
IMD in a bulletin said that the deep depression over Westcentral Bay of Bengal moved Northeastwards with a speed of 13 kmph during the past few hours and lay centered at the same region on October 23rd.
The deep depression , about 360 km south of Paradip (Odisha), 510 km south-southwest of Digha (West Bengal) and 660 km southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh). It is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm coast between Khepupara and Chittagong around evening of October 25th as a deep depression.
IMD added that under its influence, widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall are very likely over Tripura from October 23rd to October 26th. Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely to prevail over Tripura on October 25th.
IMD has also issued ‘Yellow’ ( watch-be updated) warnings for October 24 across Tripura and has also issued the same warning for October 25th, whereas issued ‘orange’ (alert-be prepared) warning for two districts of Tripura including Gomati and South Tripura.
Similarly, issued ‘yellow’ warnings for all eight districts of Tripura for October 26
IMD also said that light to moderate rainfall at some places with isolated heavy rainfall is possible with thunderstorms and lightning over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on October 24-25. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also very likely over Tripura on October 24.
