E-market place to deliver corruption free and transparent administration: Finance Minister
A workshop was held on Government E-Market Place (GeM) at Agartala Town Hall. Finance department has organized this workshop. Inaugurating the workshop, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said that the Government of India launched GeM Portal in the country on August 9, 2016. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this portal to give the country a corruption free and transparent administration. On Tuesday , various Central Government Ministries, Central Government Agencies and States are procuring various items through GeM. As a result, since 2016,the central and state governments have saved 16 thousand crore rupees by purchasing various items through GeM.
The Finance Minister said that the state government has purchased various goods worth Rs.497 crore through GeM since 2017. For this achievement, the Central Government awarded Tripura as the best performing state among the North Eastern states. We want further expansion of the e-market place. We aim to include this portal at Zilla Parishad, Gram Panchayat and Village Committee level as well. He said that Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has laid importance on working with transparency. In the opening programme of the workshop, the Secretary of Finance department Dr.Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty said, Tripura is doing well in the government e-marketplace (GeM ). He said, GeM is not only for government offices. Initiatives have been taken to involve MSME so that they can sell their products outside the state through GeM. He said, GeM will be included under One district, One product in 8 districts. Additional Finance Secretary Akinchan Sarkar said that 60 lakh registered sellers are included in GeM portal across the country. About 40 thousand different types of products are available through this portal.
Additional CEO of Central Government GeM Portal, Yogendra Kumar Pathak and State Nodal Officer Amardeep Gupta also spoke on the occasion.
Health and Family Welfare, Finance, Home, Education, Revenue, Rural Development, Industries and
Commerce, National Health Mission, Social Welfare and Social Education, Agartala Government Medical College were awarded at the workshop for highest purchases through GeMs during several financial years. The guests handed over certificates and mementos to the officials of various departments. Deputy Secretary of Finance Punit Kumar, Officer of Agartala Treasury One Harshita Biswas, Treasury Two Officer Shankar Narayan Das along with Mohanpur Sub-treasury, Jirania Sub-treasury officials and DDOs of various departments participated in the workshop.
