Fake currency notes of Rs 75,000 seized, three arrested
Tripura police on Monday burst a counterfeit currency racket and arrested three persons with recovery of fake Indian currency notes of Rs. 75,000 from a car in a Naka point checking at Ambassa area of Dhalai district on Sunday night.
Police sources said that the Dhalai district police on Sunday night conducted a regular vehicle inspection at Ambassa and stopped a suspected Hyundai I-20 car with registration number TR-01-BV-0792 and three persons including the driver boarded in the car.
In the course of the search operation, police found a bundle of 500 rupee notes, which turned out to be fake and after inspection, the police team found a total of counterfeit notes of Rs. 75,000 under their possessions. Police arrested all three persons identified as Malin Debbarma, Paribesh Debbarma and Anil Debbarma; all were residents of Bairagidhepa village under Teliamura subdivision of Khowai district.
Police have registered a case against them and launched an investigation to find out the source and destination of the counterfeit notes.
