Amidst statewide protest demanding police action over issuance of PRTC to non-resident Tripura persons by different SDM offices of the state for the ongoing SCC-GD recruitment drive, the actual bona fide candidates of Tripura on Monday detained five youths from Bihar state and handed over them before police.
Sources said that the interviews are going on at BSF’s frontier headquarters at Shalbagan area at the outskirts of Agartala under NCC police station for the last few days for recruitment to various posts of Central Security Forces through Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
Sources said that every day a large number of unemployed youths from outside the state attend the interview under a reserved quota for Tripura and each of them carry PRTC issued by the Tripura government. Several youths from outside the state, especially from Bihar have already been caught with PRTCs by the unemployed youths of Tripura who have come for interviews.

Though, none of the youths are not the actual residents of Tripura and during the interview process, the unemployed youths of Tripura had detained them and informed the matter to police.

He said that police are investigating the incident and interrogation is going on how they collected PRTC from Tripura and why they are participating in the interview process, which has been reserved only for Tripura domicile. Though, none of the youths were arrested and police interrogation is going on under ‘detention’. They are being interrogated as to where they live in Tripura including their birth certificate and where they have collected proof of permanent residence in Tripura certificate (PRTC).
Deb said that earlier a specific FIR had been lodged and a few days ago, another youth from Bihar was arrested, who was carrying PRTC during the interview process held at Gokulnagar BSF campus.
