Former UP Minister Mahendra Singh nominated as poll observer for state BJP
The central leadership of BJP on Sunday appointed Mahendra Singh, a former minister in Uttar Pradesh, as the election in-charge for Tripura, where the Assembly polls will be held in 2023.
Rajya Sabha member Samir Oran and national president of BJP ST Morcha will be the co-in-charge. Singh, known as a strong and dedicated organizational leader of the BJP, who has served the party as national secretary and was also in charge of the party's affairs in Assam.
Singh is an MLC from Uttar Pradesh. He was a minister in the first Yogi Adityanath government in the state, but was not retained after the BJP was re-elected to power this year.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha in his tweet message said "heartiest congratulations to Hon’ble MLC Shri Mahendra Singh Ji and Shri Samri Oran Ji for being nominated as BJP’s observer and co-observer for upcoming assembly polls in Tripura. I believe the BJP will secure a historic win in the Assembly polls."
