Foundation stone for synthetic turf hockey ground at DD Sports complex laid by minister
The Sports and Youth Affairs department of the state government is moving towards organizing the National Games in Agartala, said Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
Addressing in the foundation stone laying ceremony for synthetic turf hockey ground at Dasarath Deb Sports complex in Badharghat, Sports Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that at present construction works of Rs. 60 crore are in progress to develop the sports infrastructures of the state and soon these will be inaugurated.
‘Without dreams , we cannot move forward and when states like Assam and Manipur organised National Games, then why not in Tripura,’ said Chowdhury and added that everything is possible if the target is fixed.
He said that the government has taken initiative to confirm reservation systems in government jobs for sports persons, which are applicable in few states like Maharashtra.
Chowdhury said that within the next six months, the construction works of synthetic turf hockey ground will be completed. Giving details of the present status of construction of synthetic turf grounds in other parts of the state, the Minister said that on November 30th next, the synthetic turf ground in Jirania’s S N Colony will be inaugurated and within next one month, the synthetic turf football ground will also be inaugurated in Mohanpur.
During the foundation stone laying ceremony Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), Dipak Majumder and , secretary of Youth and Sports Affairs department Dr P K Chakraborty, director Subikash Debbarma, local MLA Mimi Majumder and other dignitaries were also present.
