Four Bangladeshi arrested from bordering Ashrambari area of Khowai
Amidst continuous joint patrolling by BSF and Tripura police in stretches of Indo-Bangla border due to ADC election process , four more citizens of the neighbouring country were arrested from Mahadeb Tilla area of Khowai on Tuesday, who were moving in that area suspiciously and tried to move towards Teliamura side.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khowai police station said that four Bangladeshi nationals were detained in the Mahadeb Tilla area of Khowai after allegedly entering India illegally in exchange for Rs16,000 to human traffickers.
He said that based on the secret information over some movements of Bangladeshi nationals in bordering areas of Khowai district, plainclothes police personnel noticed suspected movements of four persons in the bordering Asharambariu area and apprehended four persons, who were reportedly crossed the border through the Asharambari sector using illegal routes.
During preliminary interrogation detained persons revealed they are from two districts of Bangladesh and had crossed the international border with help of Indian touts in exchange of Rs. 16,000, who facilitated their entry into Indian territory.
Reports reveal that the four individuals reached the Asharambari border early in the morning and were traveling by auto-rickshaw towards Khowai when they were intercepted by police personnel in the Mahadeb Tilla area. They were subsequently taken to Khowai police station and were identified as Abdul Basik of Navinganj district, Kalal Miah, Shyamal Miah and Abdul Miah, all are from Moulvibazar district
Police have launched a detailed interrogation to determine the purpose of their illegal entry into India. An investigation into the entire incident is currently underway, said the OC.
During their interrogation they stated that they were entered into India through Asharambari border said OC and added that on Tuesday all arrested Bangladeshi were produced before a local court with police remand appeals under the Foreigner Act-1946 & U/S- 03 of IPP Act ( Entry into India Amendment-2000) for further interrogation..
The infiltration into the Northeastern states especially in Tripura and Assam has continued for Bangladesh and in the last few months hundreds of Bangladesh nationals along with Rohingyas were arrested by security forces from different borders of the state.
After a brief half, especially after operation ‘Sindoor’, the infiltration was almost stopped due tight security in the entire stretch of border, but during the past months dozens of Bangladeshi along with a tout were arrested from different parts of the state.
