Four Bihar women arrested from railway station with Ganja
Four women from Bihar state were arrested from Jogendranagar railway station of Agartala with large quantities of dry cannabis under their possessions, when they tried to smuggle these cannabis to other states of the country by boarding an express train.
Giving details of the operation, OC of East Agartala police station Rana Chatterjee said that based on secret information, the OC of College Tilla town outpost (TOP) Shyamal Debnath raided Jogendranagar railway station with women police personnel.
As per the secret information, the police team noticed the suspected movements of four women and detained them. After a search operation, police recovered a total of 22 kilograms of dry Ganja , worth Rs. 4 lakh under their possessions.
Rana Chatterjee said that police have registered a specific case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985 and started investigation to find out their local sources and support for smuggling of Ganja. He also said all arrested women will be produced before a local court for further legal proceedings.
