Four Rohingyas including two girls arrested from Dharmanagar
The bordering Tripura, which is a top hotspot travelling destination for human trafficking, specially for Rohingyas and Bangladesh nationals, who were illegally entered into Indian territory and moves towards other parts of the country through different means of surface communication, but many time, the alert security forces have also managed to detain them.
In its fresh edition over detention of Rohingyas, who were illegally entered into state’s territory to travel to other parts of the country, the police personnel from Dharmanagar police station under North Tripura district on Friday detained four youths including two girls and two boys.
Giving details, SDPO(Dharmanagar) Debasish Saha said that police get information over suspected movements of four youths including two females at Rajbari area of the town. Then, police personnel from Dharmanagar police station rushed to the spot and detained them.
During interrogation, they revealed that they were living in Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh since 2017 and with the help of local agents, managed to enter into state territory to go to Hyderabad, where their relatives are staying.
Saha said that all four Rohingyas were arrested under Passport Act and will forward them before a local court for further legal proceedings.
It may be recalled here that NIA has conducted raids in multiple locations across Tripura over the human trafficking network and subsequent arrest of 21 human traffickers in the first part of November, 2023 last and has also continued their operations in many parts of the country to burst international rackets of human trafficking.
