Four Tripura artists get ‘Sangeet Natak Academy Award’
Agartala: The state is moving towards rich art and culture and its latest instances, four artists of the state have been awarded with prestigious “Sangeet Natak Academy Award”.
The Sangeet Natak Akademi has announced a one-time Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Award under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) commemorating 75 years of India’s independence for 86 artists.
The General Council of Sangeet Natak Akademi, the National Academy of Music, Dance and Drama, New Delhi, at its meeting held from 6-8 November 2022 at New Delhi has unanimously selected Eighty-Six (86) artists for this one-time Award and among them four are from Tripura.
The Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Award carries a purse money of Rs. 1 lakh, besides Tamrapatra and Angavastram.
During a press meet held at state headquarters of BJP on Saturday evening, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said that the Sangeet Natak Akademi awards for 2020 have been awarded to Tarubala Debbarma for folk music and dance. Ustad Bismilla Khan award-2020 got by Tapashi Debbarma for folk music, Ustad Bismilla Khan youth ward-2021 got by Litan Das for puppet making and special award on Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav got by renowned Tabla player Gopal Chandra Biswas. The Chief Minister on behalf of the government and his party congratulated all artists of the state.
