Govt has given special attention to power generation with the help of solar energy: Ratan Lal Nath
The state is dependent on gas-based power plants. Thinking about the future, the government has given special attention to the generation of electricity with the help of solar energy.
Various efforts are being taken for solar energy generation, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath said this while inaugurating 33 KV Nalchar sub-station at Killamura in Nalcharblock on 11th October, 2023.The power minister said that the government is taking steps to ensure that there is no problem in power generation if coal and gas run out in the future. By 2030, the state has set a target of generating 500 MW of electricity with the help of solar energy.
Besides solar power, efforts are also being made to build hydro project plants based on the 4 rivers of the state namely Khowai, Manu, Deo and Muhuri.
The Power Minister said that modern civilization cannot be imagined without electricity. Therefore, the present government of the state has paid special attention to maintaining uninterrupted power supply.
The government is also considering whether a solar park can be set up in the state in the future.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kishore Barman appealed to the people of all sections of the society to extend their hands of cooperation in order to build ‘Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura.
MD of TSECL Debashis Sarkar also spoke on the occasion. General Manager of Tripura Power Transmission Limited Ranjan Debbarma gave the welcome address.
Social Worker Shibu Pal presided over the programme. Sabhadhipati of Sepahijala Zilla Parishad Supriya Das Dutta and Sahakari Sabhadhipati Pintu Aich were present at the programme. Twelve crore Forty lakh rupees have been spent on the construction of this sub-station. The people of Bairagi bazar, Poliram, Lakshmandhepa, Bagabasa of Nalchar block area will be benefited by the construction of this sub-station.
