Govt initiates many steps for global outreach of Tripura Tourism, Sushanta Chowdhury
In order to ensure a global outreach to Tripura Tourism, the department is working round the clock and has taken the decision to make legendary cricketer and former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly as brand ambassador of Tripura Tourism.
Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury speaking at the 35th meeting of the board of directors of Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited (TTDCL) at Gitanjali state guest house in Agartala on Saturday said that the state government named the Indian cricket legend, Sourav Ganguly, as its new brand ambassador of tourism and It’s a matter of great pride for the state and it will definitely give an impetus to the state’s tourism sector.
The Minister also appealed to all concerned officials and employees of the department to give their best efforts to develop the tourism scenario of the state and make these as global destinations.
During the board of directors meeting, the in-charge secretary of Tourism department L T Darlong said that the 34th meeting of the board of directors of TTDCL held on January 3rd, 2023 last and highlighted the action report of the 34th meeting.
The managing director (MD) of TTDCL Tapan Kumar Das said that under ‘Swadesh Darshan’ 2.0 scheme, Agartala, Unakoti, Dumbur, Udaipur and Chabimura tourism destination project development schemes were send to the Union Tourism Ministry and recently, the union government has approved the projects of Agartala and Unakoti. One IPE global limited has been assigned task of development and under the ‘special assistant to states for capital investment scheme’, the Durgabari tea museum and tea garden will be developed as eco-tourism spot along with Ludhuya tea tourism development, Brahmakunda eco-tourism development, Sachindranagar ecotourism, construction of boat houses for Dumbur lake, eco-tourism for Kamalasagar and Devipur and construction of 30 toursit lodges at Gandacherra.
He said that with these projects, another project for water front development at Mahadev Dighi in Udaipur has also been sent to the Tourism ministry with a total cost of Rs. 128.60 crore.
During the meeting, members of the board of directors including secretary of PWD Abhishek Singh, PCCF K S Sethi, chief wildlife warden Pravin Agarwal and other officials were also present.
