Govt to open pharmacies in GB, IGM hospitals, medicines with affordable prices

In order to expand the health services, the Health department will open two pharmacy shops in GB and IGM hospital complexes and will provide medicine to the patients’ affordable prices.

Addressing a press conference here at Civil Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon, the secretary of Health department, Dr Debasish Basu said that the new initiatives of the department will give enormous benefits to the patients. He said that as the government committed to protect the health of the state’s people, the department working round the clock to extend the health services to the remotest corner of the state.

At present, the state has 6 state hospitals, six district hospitals, 14 subdivisional, 21 community health centres, 118 primary health centres, 999 sub-health centres, 14 blood banks including two private run and six more blood component separation units with 7 blood storage centres, Dr Basu.

Highlighting the modern and sophisticated health care services of the state government hospitals, Dr Basu said new CT-Scan machines will also be installed at GB and IGM Hospitals.

He said that with amendment of Tripura Health Service rules in 2022, the number of medical officer cadre has been increased from 1480 to 2170 along with categorization for general duty medical officers and Specialist cadre.

While mentioning the functioning of a new multi-storey building in IGM Hospital complex, Dr Basu said that the Eye and Pathology departments of the hospital has been shifted to the new building complex.

The department has also upgraded and equipped many primary health centres into round the clock health care providers, said Dr Basu and added that the department has continued its effort to curb the menaces for HIV/AIDS through awareness camps , which is spreading by the injectable drug users.
