Great immersion carnival festival of Goddess Durga “Mayer Goman” on Oct 26
The great and colourful immersion carnival festival of Goddess Durga “Mayer Goman” will be held on October 26th next from Agartala city centre.
Speaking at a preparatory meeting of ‘Mayer Goman and Sharad Sanman-2023’ held at Muktadhara auditorium on Sunday afternoon, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said that the people of the state participates in the biggest festival with enthusiasm and the observance of festival with peace and harmony is the main object and target.
Dr Saha said that the festival and the programme were organized last year as well in a successful way as there was co-operation and assistance from everyone. The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) department also played an important role for a successful event.
Dr Manik Saha has instructed the officials of all concerned departments to make sure that all the roads are repaired and ready for the upcoming festival. He also requested the authorities of all clubs and community puja organizers to abide by the rules and regulations framed by the government for peaceful observance of the festival.
AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder highlighted the successful event Mayer Goman held last and said that with cooperation of all this year too, the great carnival festival. He also added that various steps are being taken to keep the city clean. The Secretary of ICA Department Dr Pradip Kumar Chakraborty said that a total of 47 clubs and organizations participated in the immersion carnival and the government had given 21 prizes to community puja organizers. The Deputy Mayor of AMC, Manika Das Datta, IG(Law and Order) Saumitra Dhar , DM and SP of West Tripura district and director of ICA department Bimbishar Bhattacharjee along with other officials were also present in the preparatory meeting.
