Huge quantities of gold ornaments worth of Rs. 4.5 cr seized from Agartala railway station
In a special drive conducted at the Agartala railway station, the Government Railway Police (GRP) on Thursday successfully seized gold ornaments of 7.5 kilograms and detained two persons.
Giving details of the operation an official of GRP said that two big bags with 7.5 kgs of gold ornaments recovered from two passengers identified as residents of Silchar and Gujarat boarded in a Guwahati bound passenger train and recovered gold having an estimated market value of approximately Rs 4.50 crore.
Preliminary investigations suggest that they were engaged in the trade of selling gold to jewelers across different states and GRP authorities handed over them to Customs officials for further legal proceedings.
