Human trafficking continues, two more BD nationals arrested
Despite NIA raids in multiple locations across Tripura over human trafficking network and subsequent arrest of 21 human traffickers in the first part of November, the human trafficking through different border areas of Tripura still continues and on Monday again , two more Bangladesh national were arrested, who were entered into Indian territory with the help of human traffickers.
Police sources said that in the early hours on Monday, the Border Security Force (BSF) jawans posted at Sidhai Mohanpur border under West Tripura district detained two Bangladeshi, who were managed to entered into Indian side by crossing the barbed wire fencing with the help of stair and with active support of agents from both nations.
When two Bangladesh nationals identified as Ayeshya Aktar and Ansari Ali of Bagura area of Bangladesh started moving towards Sidahir Mohanpur Bazar, BSF jawans detained them and handed them over to Sidhai police station.
Police sources said that both Bangladeshi entered Indian side with active help of agents and in the course of body search, police recovered a good quantity of Bangladeshi currency and two mobile sets under their possessions.
Police added that both BD nationals were produced before a local court on Monday afternoon under Indian Passport Act for further legal proceedings, who were travelling to India without any valid documents.
It may be recalled here that in the wee hours of November 8th last, in a big blow to human trafficking networks operating across 10 states and UTs, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), in close coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF) , Tripura police and other state police forces, conducted a comprehensive operation across multiple states in India. The operation aimed at dismantling illegal human trafficking support networks involved in infiltration and settlement of illegal migrants across the Indo-Bangladesh border into India.
The NIA raids were conducted in Tripura, Assam, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Haryana, Puducherry, Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir.
NIA teams along with BSF and Tripura police started their operations from at about 2 AM of and continued till the early morning of November 8th at Sabroom, Belonia under South Tripura district, Bishalgarh, Sonamura in Sepahijala district, bordering areas of Amtali and Champaknagar under West Tripura district and some undisclosed parts of Unakoti district. During the raid, the NIA team has arrested a total of 21 human traffickers, touts and middleman, who were directly involved in trafficking of Rohingyas and Bangladeshi infiltrators in different parts of India through Tripura border.
