IIMUN returns to Agartala: Young diplomats to tackle global and national challenges
India’s International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) is set to make its much-anticipated return to the capital of Tripura, with Delhi Public World School, Agartala hosting the prestigious IIMUN Agartala Conference from May 1 to 3, 2026.
The three-day event will bring together some of the brightest young minds from across the region to engage in structured debates, diplomacy, and policy-making across eleven diverse committees.
The conference will commence on May 1 with a formal opening ceremony, which is expected to be attended by distinguished dignitaries, educators, and community leaders. The ceremony will set the tone for days of rigorous intellectual discourse, celebrating the spirit of youth-led diplomacy and civic engagement.
Two Days of Debate and Deliberation:
On May 2 and 3, delegates will participate in intensive committee sessions addressing some of the most pressing issues of the present time—ranging from local governance challenges in Tripura to matters of global peace and security.
In the Tripura Legislative Assembly (TLA), delegates will deliberate on Ensuring Sustainable and Safe Drinking Water Access Across Tripura, focusing on gaps in water supply infrastructure and exploring policy solutions to ensure safe drinking water for both urban and rural communities.
The NITI Aayog committee will discuss Urban Infrastructure Failure, Air Pollution, and the Governance Crisis in Indian Cities, examining the breakdown of urban planning, worsening air quality, and the need for stronger governance mechanisms.
In the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), discussions will centre on A Roadmap to Address Rising Unemployment, with emphasis on structural reforms and sustainable employment opportunities for India’s growing youth population.
The Prime Minister’s Special Session (PMSS) will take up Progress Towards ‘Viksit Bharat’, where delegates will evaluate India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047, assess achievements, and identify areas for improvement.
In the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), delegates will debate the Relevance of the United Nations in today’s multipolar world and consider the need for institutional reforms.
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will focus on Questions of Peace and Regional Security, addressing global conflict zones and exploring diplomatic solutions for stability and peace.
The UNESCAP committee will deliberate on Enhancing Ocean Governance and Blue Economy Strategies for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Coastal Members, with discussions centred on sustainable ocean resource management.
In the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), delegates will discuss Guidelines for Maintaining Clean Water Bodies, focusing on combating water pollution and restoring aquatic ecosystems.
The Influencers Summit will examine Censorship and Content Moderation Across Media and the Film Industry, debating the balance between free expression and responsible content regulation.
The FIFA Committee will discuss Venues for the 2030 World Cup, evaluating infrastructure, political considerations, and long-term impacts on host nations.
Additionally, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) will simulate a media team, with delegates acting as journalists, videographers, photographers, and graphic designers to cover the entire conference.
