Jal Jeevan Mission: 15 Gram Panchayats of Tripura get highest grade by Jal Shakti Ministry
In order to monitor the ground implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural), two representatives of Union Jal Shakti Ministry, Dr Joy Bhagaban and Dr Sanjib Agarwal (National WASH expert) visited the state from November 18 to 24.
Official sources said that two authorities of Union Jal Shakti Ministry had visited 16 village Panchayats under f Bamutia, Mohanpur, Lefunga and Belbari blocks and reviewed the ground implementation of the centrally sponsored schemes.
During their stay, both the officials had interacted with elected representatives of Panchayats, teachers and the beneficiaries. They also reviewed the works done under Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission(Rural) schemes and examined the water supplied through Field Test Kit(FTK) by five trained women. They have also expressed their satisfaction over waste management. The director of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) department, Rajib Majumder and other officials of the department have also accompanied them during their field visits.
Before leaving the state, both central officials on Saturday also met the Secretary of DWS department, Abhishek Singh and expressed their satisfaction over the ground implementation of the centrally sponsored schemes.
It may be recalled here that the central team has awarded five stars to 15 Gram Panchayats and one Panchayat has also been awarded with four star grades.
Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, a total of 72.21 percent of the rural areas of Tripura has been connected with functional household tap connections, whereas the national average stands at 70.91 %.
Tripura has also achieved significant success for implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission by reducing water scarcity in rural areas of the state.
