Left unions marched towards Raj Bhavan in support of demands
Tripura Tapasili Jati Samanya Samiti and Tripura Khet Mazdoor Union along with five other wings of opposition CPI (M) on Thursday organized their ‘Raj Bhavan Abhijan’ jointly organized in support of their 17 point charter of demands.
The supporters and workers including top leaders of Scheduled Caste (SC) coordination committee and farmland workers union of CPI (M) started a big rally from Rabindra Bhavan area of the city and marched towards Governor House. When the big rally reached Circuit House area , a large number of police and other security forces cordoned them off and they were allowed to organize a meeting in the street, where top leaders including CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury addressed the rally.
Addressing the gathering, CPI (M) state Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury said that all the wings of CPI(M) wanted to the meet the newly appointed Tripura governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu in support of number of demands , specially to protect the rights of Dalits and protection of social rights of the people of the country.
All these organizations along with other trader, farmer unions will organize a Parliament march on December 4th with a united voice against oppression and deprivation policies of the Narendra Modi led BJP government.
He alleged that after coming to power in 2014 the central government headed by Narendra Modi has been protecting the interests of the corporate houses, indulging in crony capitalism at the cost of farmers and working classes interests.
He said that the MGNREGA workers and labourers in other sectors have to work for twelve hours but they are not getting wages and only a few mandays are generated in Tripura during the festival season. As a result, a large number of the rural population of the state are now suffering from food and job crises.
The central government headed by Modi is trying to sell off the profit-making public sector undertakings, putting the thousands of workers at the mercy of greedy industrialists and big entrepreneurs but the farmers are not getting actual prices of their products”.
This is the reason why the all India unions of workers and labourers had adopted a programme of agitation on August 24 and as part of this there will be continued sit-in programmes in the last part of November against division politics of BJP governments.
He said that the condition of all working classes and people of poor sections in the state is dire and there are no jobs or employment facilities in the state. During the past fine and half years of the BJP government in Tripura, the conditions of these sections are deteriorating day by day.
Many leaders including former MLAs, Ratan Bhwomik, Sudhan Das, Bhanulal Saha and other leaders also addressed the gathering and alleged that ruling suppressing their voices and rights of people in the state and now development works in the state. They also alleged that everywhere there is loot going on by leaders of BJP and there are no policies for poor people of the state. The government is continuously moving towards privatizations by suppressing basic rights of people, the leaders alleged. After the meeting, few of them were allowed to go to Raj Bhavan, where they handed over a memorandum to the Governor in support of their demands.
