Medical negligence: 16 years boy died allegedly after gall bladder operation in GB Hospital
Once again gross medical negligence reported from Tripura’s main referral hospital, GB Hospital and a 16-year old boy died after gall bladder stone operation.
Sources said that one Pranjit Majumder (16) of Joypur village of South Belonia under South Tripura district was admitted to GB Hospital due to his abdominal pain on September 13 last. After diagnosis, doctors suggested his parents go for gall bladder operation for removal of stones.
As per the suggestion, the doctors conducted his gall bladder operation on Tuesday and successfully removed all stones from his gall bladder and after the operation; the condition of the patient was stable.
But, a few hours after the operation, the condition of Pranjit Majumder started deteriorating and he was put on Oxygen support.
The father of Pranjit Majumder alleged that as per the requisition of the doctor they have also provided blood units and when his son put on Oxygen support, none of the doctor or the nurse attended him. As a result, on Wednesday morning Pranjit breathed his last at the hospital bed due to negligence by on duty doctors and nurses.
Devastated father after autopsy has taken the body of 16-years old son and complained before the media that his son died due to a reluctant attitude by a section of doctors and nurses and urged the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha to take immediate steps to protect precious lives of poor patients.
