Miscreants set fire on two BJP offices in South Tripura
Amidst political tension in different parts of the state, in a provocative incident , two party offices of BJP in Satmura and bordering Amzadnagar area under Belonia subdivision of South Tripura district were ransacked and burnt down on Wednesday by unknown miscreants .
Sources said that when the both incidents were noticed on Thursday, tension spread in both areas and a large number of police forces were also deployed in these areas to defuse the escalating tension.
Sources said that last night there was a cultural programme at Satmura area on the 50th anniversary of the local New Star Club and there were a lot of people. But as soon as the function had ended the Satmura BJP office went up in flames after its ransacking by unknown miscreants. Subsequently, another BJP office in the bordering Amzadnagar area was also burnt down.
Sources said that, though political strength of opposition CPI (M) and Congress in both areas are so weak, the local people ruled out any subversive activities by opposition parties.
Local sources added that none of the local people saw anyone setting the offices on fire and there has been no arrest even if police and firefighters reached the area in time.
However local sources said that there is nobody in this area to set the BJP offices afire and these provocative activities happened because of serious infighting in BJP between the ousted BJP ‘Mandal’ president Ashesh Baidya and the incumbent Mandal president Sushankar Bhowmik.
The vice president of the ‘Mandal’ Badal Bhowmik blamed the arsoning on the CPI (M) cadres and alleged that the Communist were trying to destabilize the peace in their locality because of the ensuing assembly election.
Police sources said that they started investigation over the both arsoning cases and deployed a large number of security forces to avoid any kind of political tension.
