Natun Nagar shootout: Gang war among negotiation mafias, two prime accused arrested
After the shootout incident in front of Sonargaon Dhaba located at Airport road, Natun Nagar under West Agartala PS held on Tuesday night. In which two youths suffered bullet injuries and within 12 hours of the incident, the capital city police managed to arrest two prime accused.
Giving details of the incident SDPO(Sadar) Ajoy Kumar Das said that on Tuesday night when group of youths were eating egg rolls in front of Sonargaon Dhaba, two suspected assailants arrived at the spot with two car and they started firing targeting two youths, who were busy with eating egg rolls.
Miscreants had fired rounds of bullets and as a result, two youths identified as Haripada Das (28) and Sanjoy Das (29) suffered bullet injuries, who were immediately shifted to ILS Hospital.
Das said that after the incident, senior police officials led by SP(West) Shankar Debnath rushed to the spot and they collected all circumstantial evidence from the crime scene along with four empty bullet shells.
Base on the complaint of a relative of a victim youth, the West Agartala police station registered an FIR under section 326,307 , 34 of IPC and 27(2) of Arms Act and within 12 hours of the incident, police arrested two prime accused identified as Prabhakar Ghosh (40) of Usha Bazar, who is the secretary of Bharat Ratna Club and another assailant identified as Santosh Das (35) of Usha Bazar under Airport police station, said Das and added that police also seized two offending vehicles under the possession.
He said that primary investigation reveals that it’s a gang war among two groups of negotiation mafias and shootout organized to establish their influence on each other.
While, both arrested accused persons Prabhakar Ghosh and Santosh Das were produced before a local court with police remand appeals for further interrogation and court sent them five days police remand.
Das said that the modus operandi of shootout was cleared and three more suspected miscreants involved in the shootout incident including Raju Barman, Dhiman Das and Sudip Kar alais Akash were also involved in the incident, who are on the run. He said that police teams are conducting search operations in possible hideouts of these miscreants and hoped that soon they will be arrested and will also be able to recover the sophisticated small firearms, which were used in the shootout incident. Police teams are now waiting for recovery of two injured youths to record their statements.
SDPO added that after interrogation of arrested accused persons, the entire mystery of the incident will be cleared and police will also burst the negotiation racket spread in different areas of the city.
Meanwhile, hospital sources said that after operations one each bullet was removed from both injured youths and they are now out of danger.
