New Pradesh Mahila Congress president felicitated in Congress Bhavan
The All India Congress Committee (AICC) appointed Smt. Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty as new state president of Tripura Mahila Congress replacing Laxmi Barman of Sonamura.
The new appointment has been welcomed by the leaders of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) led by president Ashish Kumar Saha and other senior women leaders of the party during a programme held on Wednesday at Congress Bhavan and Smt Ghosh Chakraborty was felicitated by the PCC leaders.
Later, speaking with media persons, the newly appointed Mahila Congress president said that she will start organizational activities by strengthening the women organization from grass-root level by inducting more and more women in the Congress.
PCC president Ashish Kumar Saha said that the PCC is very much grateful towards the AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge over appointment of Smt Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty and hoped that under her leadership, the grassroot organization of Mahila Congress will be strengthen in coming days in booth level. He also hoped that the new president would reorganize and strengthen the party in every booth of the state.
Apart from this , a delegation of ‘Mahila Congress’ on Wednesday met in deputation with the Municipal Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), Dr Shailesh Kumar Yadav with a charter of demands. The demands include increased days of TUEP work for the urban poor women, improvement and cleaning of drainage system, steps to eradicate the menace of mosquitoes from the AMC areas by ensuring sprinkling of DDT and others. After the deputation, Dr Yadav assured the delegation that he will take necessary steps to fulfill the demands of the ‘Mahila Congress’.
