NIT’s 16th convocation: Initiatives taken to make Tripura-an education hub of NE region, CM
Education is the greatest medium to remove social and cultural differences and the visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who said that education is power to bring changes across the world, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.
Addressing the 16th Convocation of NIT, Agartala held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sports Complex said that the present government’s aim is not only providing quality education but also making the students competent to participate in the progress of the country.
The state government is working round the clock to transform the state into a potential Education hub in the entire Northeastern region. Necessary infrastructure development works are in progress and a good number of scholarships have been introduced to help the downtrodden students pursue their education by the provision made in the New Education Policy (NEP), said Dr Saha.
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala celebrates its 16th Convocation ceremony on Saturday amid huge joy and enthusiasm in the presence of a host of dignitaries, academicians, students, teachers, and staff. NITA Director Prof (Dr) S K Patra said that NITA is a destination of quality education and a preferred center of national excellence. He said presently 4,850 students are studying multifarious courses and subjects including B Tech, M Tech, MBA, MCA and M Sc, PhD in the NIT. The NIT is proudly imparting courses for 9 branches in B Tech courses, 24 specialized courses in M Tech and 5 branches of dual courses. In the glorious convocation event, a total of 45 students were awarded Ph.D, 117 M.Tech, 12 students get MCA, 31 get MBA, 19 get MSc, 773 get B.Tech, 52 get S, 14 BT,37 BSMS, and 7 students get graduation in BTMT certificates . All the outstanding students who have secured the top rank in the Institute in various departments have been felicitated with medals in the convocation.
Renowned academician Prof Damodar Acharya, former Director of IIT Kharagpur, Binod Bawri, Chairman of, the Board of Governors, NITA also spoke at the convocation.
