Opposition claims by-poll result reflect massive rigging, inactiveness of poll panel

The opposition parties including CPI (M) and Congress after by-poll results over massive victory of BJP candidates said that it was accepted as the entire voting process was rigged  and the ruling party made it a total farce.

While, former chairman of Tipra-Motha Pradyot Kishore Debbarma through his social message said that they faced rigging during ADC election but Tipra did not back down and  victory, fear and strength is in the mind ,complaining won't help, giving up till the last over is bowled shows how much political parties care about their workers .

The Tripura Left Front committee through a press statement said that ‘from the results of the by-elections to two Assembly seats including 20-Boxanagar and 23-Dhanpur Assembly constituencies as published by the Chief electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura indisputably vindicated the allegation of the Left Front that, the election in both the constituencies was totally rigged and reduced to mockery of democracy in the name of elections.’

The statement added that immediately after the poll, witnessing the widespread capture of polling booths by the BJP followers mobilized from outsides who resorted to rampant manipulations in most of the polling booths in front of the electoral staff and police, the Tripura Left Front Committee raised demand to countermand the election and arrange a fresh poll in both the constituencies. But the Election Commission of India (ECI) did not pay coznigence to this genuine demand.

The results show that the BJP candidates in Boxanagar and Dhanpur have won the election securing 89% and 71% of total polled votes respectively.  In the history of state elections, except Dasaratha Deb in Ramchandraghat assembly seat, there is no record of any candidate getting such a high percentage of votes in any genuine election.  While in the general election held in February this year, the CPI (M) won in Boxanagar and lost Dhanpur with a marginal difference in the triangular contest. Within six months, nothing happened in the state political scenario that may lead shifting of  such a huge number of voters toward the ruling party, the statement said and added that rather, during this period discontent of the masses has escalated over the performance of the government to address the crisis of livelihood of the people and that in other sectors.  “Thus is a manufactured verdict managed by the ruling party with the help of a section of police and civil administration in league with the Election Department,” said Left Front.

They hoped and expressed their confidence that the democratic and peace-minded people of Tripura would outright reject the results and intensify their struggle for restoration of democracy in the days to come.

Tripura Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha reacting over the by-poll results said that it was accepted and said that within last six months, nothing did by the ruling party in the state that may lead shifting of such a huge number of voters toward the ruling party and the results itself the reflected the rigging politics of BJP and how they suppressed the voices of democracy in Tripura.

Tipra-Motha’s former chairman Pradyot Kishore through his Facebook post said that “we faced rigging during ADC election -I was personally attacked in Mohanpur but Tipra did not back down . Result we won. When I was the congress president in 2019 we were attacked -we did not back out and put polling agents - result from 1 percent our share went to 27%. Last year Sudip won the by-election despite much pressure, Even TMC fought hard and got a respectable margin in the Agartala Municipal Election.

So victory, fear and strength is in the mind ,complaining won't help, giving up till the last over is bowled shows how much u care about your workers and what has become to a party which ruled Tripura for 25 years.”
