PCC president met top AICC leaders to finalize LS poll preparations
In order to strengthen the organizational activities across Tripura and revive the party at grass-root level, Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha on Tuesday met a number of top AICC leaders and held a series of meetings.
Congress sources said that Tripura Pradesh Congress president Ashish Saha accompanied by new AICC in-charge for Tripura Girish Chodankar and AICC secretary Ms Szarita Laitphlang met KC Venugopal, General Secretary of AICC and held detailed discussion over organizational activities of the party.
Saha in his meeting with AICC general Secretary Mukul Wasnik has also detailed discussion for the party's fight against BJP in two Lok Sabha seats and to finalize the party’s strategy in the LS polls.
Later, Ashish Saha along with Girish Chodankar and Szarita Laitphlang also met All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba and party’s another general secretary Deepa Das Munshi.
While, Tripura Pradesh Mahila in front of Congress Bhavan in Agartala organized a demonstration protesting price-hike of essential commodities.
Speaking with media persons, Pradesh Mahila Congress president Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty said that after formation of BJP government in centre led by Narendra Modi, the women of the country are the worst sufferers and daily they are facing tremendous hardship to run their families due to sky-rcoketing prices of essential commodities.
She alleged in the last 10 years, the prices of LPG cylinders have now reached beyond the common people and prices of all food grains, pulses and edible oil have also reached the top. She said that Pradesh Mahila Congress will strengthen their statewide agitation against ‘double-attack’ (price rise and deteriorating law and order situation) of BJP governments.
Women Congress leaders also said that women of the state are also ready to befitting reply to Modi government for their betrayal and depriving policies in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
The women Congress leader further criticized the BJP- led government claiming it to be responsible for ‘alarming hike in women related crimes in the state’.
