Plans to bring more land under cultivation: Agriculture Minister
A plan has been taken to bring the state's cultivable land under cultivation. The government is helping the farmers to produce more crops in less land. Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ratan Lal Nath said this while inaugurating the Agriculture Sub-Division office at old Lefunga Block premises in Lefunga on Wednesday.
On the occasion, the Agriculture Minister said that the state government has planned to open agricultural sub-division offices in all 58 blocks. Lefunga Agricultural Sub-Divisional Office is the 44th Agricultural Sub-Divisional Office in the state.
On the occasion, Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given highest priority to the welfare of farmers and the development of agriculture.
About 36 percent of the state's gross domestic product comes from agriculture. He said that the income of farmers in the state has increased a lot. 2 lakh 46 thousand farmers of the state are getting 6 thousand rupees annually under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Samman Nidhi Yojana. Central and state governments are working hard to make farmers self-reliant through various schemes.
The opening program was attended by Vice Chairman of Lefunga BAC Buddha Debbarma, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Subhash Dutta, Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department Dr. Phani Bhushan Jamatia and others. Director of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department Sharadindu Das gave the welcome address. Chairman of Lefunga BAC Ranbir Debbarma presided over the program.
