Police arrested a gang of thieves, gold ornaments of Rs. 8 lakh recovered

The Agartala city police in a significant achievement have managed to arrest a gang of thieves, who were involved in different stolen incidents of gold ornaments in and around the city and have also recovered stolen ornaments worth of Rs. 8 lakh under their possession.
Giving details, SDPO(Sadar) Debaprasad Roy said that on November 29 last, the police personnel from East Agartala police station arrested three thieves identified as Sujit Das, Juman Miah and Antar Debbarma and recovered a few gold ornaments from their possession.
Based on the interrogation statements of these thieves, police learnt that a gang of thieves were involved in all stolen incidents committed in the houses of a few city dwellers. As per their information, police teams were formed to nab other miscreants involved in robberies and on Friday, police arrested four more members of thieve gang. Said Roy and added that the police recovered stolen gold ornaments worth Rs. 8 lakh under their possessions.
Arrested four thieves were identified as Akash Dey of Hrishi Colony, Aralia, Bapan Debnath of Tulakuna, Diptanu Saha of Maheshkhala and Tutan Barman of Melaghar.
He said that after the arrest of this gang, they are hoping that stolen incidents will decrease and police will forward them before a local court with police remand appeals for interrogation to get the names of other thieves associated with them.
