Pradyot Kishore meets Amit Shah, trigger speculation
The political situation in Tripura has taken a complicated turn as the supremo of Tipra-Motha Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Saturday evening met the Union Home Minister Amit Saha at Delhi while his party is intensifying their anti-government stand in both Boxanagar and Dhanpur assembly constituencies where by election to be held on September 5th next.
In a tweet, the BJP in-charge of Northeast Samit Patra said that “Shri @PradyotManikya Ji had a fruitful meeting with Hon’ble Home Minister Shri @AmitShah Ji in Delhi today. They discussed the ongoing talks of the rights and welfare of the indigenous people. It has been the vision of the prime minister to secure the rights and empower the tribals of Tripura and the rest of the country.”
In another tweet, Assam’ Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said “This is indeed a very encouraging. I am sure that under the leadership of Hon’ble Home Minister @AmitShah, a lasting solution of the problems faced by the indigenous communities of Tripura will be found.”
It may be recalled here that after quitting the chairmanship of the party it was the first political move of Pradyot Kishore and gave birth to many speculations.
The meeting at Delhi was held on the Saturday evening after which Pradyot told the reports that it was part of the ongoing talks for the constitutional solution of the Indigenous people of Tripura. He also said they have talked about a final conclusion over the rights of the Indigenous people of Tripura.
The meeting evoked speculations in the political circle as it happened at a time when the Tipra-Motha is intensifying their campaign in both the by-poll bound constituencies with a clear indication that they are in favour of opposition unity.
On Saturday, the party organised ten meetings in ten Village Committees of Dhanpur and one in Dhanirampur of Boxanagar to show their organisational strength. Leader of the Opposition Animesh Debbarma was present in Dhanirampur while all the party MLAs, MDCs and Executive Members spread in ten villages of Dhanpur constituency. They are not ready for division of opposition votes and Motha supporters or the voters of the both constituencies will support opposition CPI(M) candidates.
