Pradyot’s meeting with Union Home Minister week before by-polls, reflects weakness of BJP, Jitendra Chaudhury

As a member of Autonomous District Council (ADC) and head of a regional political party, Tipra-Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarma can meet the Union Home Minister and nothing wrong it, said CPI (M) state secretary and MLA Jitendra Chaudhury.

Speaking with media persons on Sunday afternoon and giving his reactions over some alleged violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by some BJP leaders and ministers in the poll bound Boxanagar and Dhanpur assembly constituencies, Chaudhury replying media quarries over meeting of Tipra-Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore with Home Minister Amit in New Delhi just week before the by-polls, said it reflected the weakness of BJP over their support base in both seats.

He said that just before the election for the Speaker of Tripura legislative assembly, Home Minister Amit Shah called Pradyot Kishore to ensure the winning of the BJP candidate and now a week before the by-polls. “If Pradyot Kishore discussed issues with development of ADC and its people as a chief of Tipra-Motha and as a elected member of ADC, nothing wrong on it,” said Chaudhury and added that but none of them had said anything over by-polls nor they publicly issued any statement on political ground.

But, before one week of by-polls and meeting of Amit Shah with Pradyot Kishore has reflected the weak support base of ruling BJP in Boxanagar and Dhanpur.

The Tipra-Motha did not field any candidate in both constituencies to stop the division of anti-BJP votes and all supporters of Motha are openly saying that they will not cast their votes in favour of BJP candidates, which has increased palpitation of BJP leaders, claimed Chaudhury.

While reacting over statements of Ministers Ratan Lal Nath and Tinku Roy during their poll campaigns, Chaudhury alleged that they were openly violating the MCC, which is dangerous for democracy.

“Being a minister of the state,  Tinku Roy cannot give dole to ASHA and Anganwadi workers during a poll meeting, which has published in print media and telecasted some news channels,” said Chaudhury and urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) and CEO, Tripura to take against them.

“The Way BJP leaders are violating MCC and giving dole to voters in Boxanagar and Dhanpur, the ECI should restrict the visiting of ministers Ratan Lal Nath and Tinku Roy in both constituencies and should take steps to ensure free and fair poll,” said Chaudhury and appealed to the voters of both constituencies to cast their vote unitedly in early hours of September 5th to protect the constitution and democracy.
