Protesting two gang rape incidents and alleged involvement of ruling party leaders, opposition parties on Friday hit the streets of Agartala and organized rallies after rallies.

On Friday afternoon addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan senior Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman strongly castigated the state government over alleged lawlessness and claimed that anarchy prevails across the state.

Condemning the rule of state government and its police administration for proving safeguards to some ruling party leaders and a son of a minister, who were allegedly involved in two spate gang rape incidents held at Kumarghat and Kalyanpur, Sudip said that there are no rules of law and police are acting as political agent of ruling BJP.

While, in continuation of protest demonstration over two gang rape incidents, the activists of Tripura Pradesh Mahila Congress staged a demonstration in front of the office complex of Tripura Commission for Women (TCW) and engaged scuffle with on duty women police personnel. They finally entered the office complex and staged a demonstration.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) also organized a protest rally in the city led by party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev and state in-charge Rajib Banerjee demanding immediate police action.

Addressing another press meet in the city, Tripura state committee of All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) has also condemned the rule of government over two gang rape incidents. AIKS leader Pabitra Kar speaking with the media said that the law and order situation of the state has totally collapsed and panic prevails across the state over miscreants’ activities.
