Within 24-hours of the registration of an FIR, accused youth involved with rape of 14-years old girl was arrested by the Belonia police on Sunday.

Police sources said that arrested accused Ajit Malla of Paikhola area of Belonia under South Tripura district had raped 14 years old girl in the mid part of last April, when was retruning to her home at village fair. But, after the incident, the victim girl did not share with her parents over fear.

On Sunday, her mother noticed that the girl’s menstrual period was not happening and she went with her daughter to Belonia hospital. After checking, the doctor confirmed that the girl is carrying three months pregnancy.

Shocked parents then managed to reveal that their daughter was raped by one Ajit Malla, a driver of a local brick kiln and on the same night registered the FIR against him.

Police added that based on the complaints of the parents of the victim girl and medical reports, police registered the FIR under section 376 of IPC and section 6 of POCSO Act and on Sunday morning had also managed to arrest accused Ajit Malla from his house in Paikhola.

Police also said that on Sunday they produced the accused before a local court for further legal proceedings.
