Rashtriya Ekta Diwas observed with patriotic fervour
Tripura along with other parts of the country observed the 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas' on Monday , the birth anniversary of leading freedom fighter and independent India's first Home Minister Sardar Vallavbhai Patel. The day starts with ‘Run for Unity' in the morning from Swamy Vivekananda stadium to Umakanta Academy ground.
The unity run was flagged off by the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, who also participated in the unity run along with his cabinet colleagues and government officials.
Later, in the afternoon the state level main programme was held at Monoranjan Debbarma Smriti stadium in AD Nagar police lines, where Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha participated in the pledge taking ceremony before a ceremonial parade of police and other security forces. During the pledge taking ceremony different bands of security forces performed in the programme by playing patriotic songs.
After the pledge taking ceremony, Chief Minister addressing the gathering said that the motto of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtra Bharat’ has been inspired from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and his contribution of Patel for a united India, the people of the country will never forget.
He said that on Monday foundation stone for construction of a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel has been laid at the joining point of Deo and Manu rivers in Unakoti district, which will cost Rs. 50 lakh.
While highlighting the improved law and order situation of the state, Dr Saha said that during the last four and half years due to concrete efforts of state police, the overall law and order situation improved.
There are insurgency related activities in Tripura and state police along with other central forces are continuing their efforts to combat any kind of insurgency related activities on the state's soil.
As per the National Crime Record Bureau’s data published in 2021, Tripura is ranked in 5th position among all 28 states for least crime rate and the government with high importance are curbing the crime against women, said Dr Saha and added that to ensure the women security, a 24-hours help desk are working in police stations in all seven women police stations of the state. He said that another new women police station at Khowai will start functioning.
Dr Saha added that from 2018 to 2022, altogether 1,776 NDPS Act cases were registered across the state and 2700 persons were arrested with seizure of huge quantities of contraband items including cannabis, Yaba tablets, cough syrups, Heroine etc. Many cases are being investigated by SIT and Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the efforts of the state government in the recently concluded NEC meeting at Guwahati. The Chief Minister also said that for the first, the DGP conference for all Northeastern states will be held in the state on November 8th and 9th next.
During the state level programme , Chief Secretary J K Sinha and DGP Amitabh Ranjan along with top police officials were also present.
Apart from these, all the central security forces including BSF, CRPF and Assam Rifles deployed in the state observed the day with patriotic fervour to commemorate the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, commemorated in a befitting manner. Officers, SOs, Jawans of CRPF Tripura Sector participated in pledge taking ceremony followed by 'Run for Unity' from Swami Vivekananda Stadium to Umakanta Academy similarly, Officers, JCOs and jawans of GC Agartala ,71, 124,140 and 225 battalions participated in "Run for Unity" in their respective areas of responsibility followed by pledge taking ceremony with full zeal and enthusiasm.
