Reckless riding: 2 falls from flyover, two dies, 2 seriously injured
In another burning instance of reckless motorbike riding, two youths were killed and two others sustained critical injuries, when two youths in a motorbike with heavy speed crashed with a Maruti-Suzuki car at Agartala’s lone flyover and strait fell on the ground road on Sunday midnight.
Police sources said that on Sunday midnight at about 12 AM, the firefighters of Agartala station and other people rushed to the flyover after they heard of a heavy crushing sound of collision and local people had also informed the matter to police.
Police said that they found two youths identified as Subir Das (24) of Madhya Champamura of Baldakhal and Biswajit Paul (25) of Anandanagar riding a motorcycle and at heavy speed their bike collided with another Maruti Suzuki car at Bardowali portion of fly over. After the collision both the bike rider and pillion rider fell from the flyover in the ground road and died on the spot. While, the Maruti car driver and a passenger sustained critical injuries and were shifted to GB Hospital. But, in the wee hours of Monday both the accused car driver and the passenger escaped from GB Hospital.
Sources said both the deceased youths Subir Das and Biswajit Paul were coming from their friend's house in ONGC area after a party with a motorbike and met the tragic road accident at flyover.
Police added that they recovered the debris of both bike and car, which had been running in the road without registration number and by registering a specific case started investigation, to identify the accused car driver and its owner. On Monday afternoon, after autopsy, bodies of both youths were handed over to their relatives. During the autopsy, former Speaker of Tripura assembly and MLA of Khayerpur constituency Ratan Chakborty also visited the hospital and expressed his deep mourn over the untimely demise of two youths. He also expressed his sympathy with bereaved family members.
