Recruitment process for 249 women jail warders going on
The correctional homes or the jails of the state will have 249 women warders as their appointment process is going on, said secretary of Home (jail).
Addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon, the secretary of Home (Jail) Tapash Roy accompanied by IG (Prison) Apurba Krishna Chakraborty said that till date altogether 26 rape and domestic violence victim women has been compensated a total sum of Rs. 1.36 crore under “Tripura Compensation for Women Victim-2018”.
Highlighting the developmental activities of Jail administration, Roy said that the 14 jails functioning across the state including the central jail have a capital of 2,365 prisoners and at present these jails have 1,335 prisoners.
All the jails have equipped with all amenities including treatment for prisoners, said Roy and added that as part of the celebration of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav’, a total of 5 prisoners will be released from jail on August 15th, 2023 next those have completed their 66% of jail term and over verification of their good conducts.
He said that the physical tests for 249 women warders have been completed and their written and viva examinations will be conducted. Roy also said that like other departments of the state government, initiative has been taken for paperless functioning of the Jail department.
