RPF of NFR recovered contraband goods, apprehended 17 persons
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) continues their drives against transhipment of contraband items through railways. From 18th till 21st of March, 2024, RPF of NFR conducted drives against carrying of contraband items at Agartala, Dimapur, Bagdogra, Rangiya and Kishanganj railway stations, trains and has recovered contraband goods around Rs. 16.7 lakhs.
During the drives they recovered Ganja (Cannabis) weighing a total of 167 kgs approximately and apprehended 17 persons in this connection. The apprehended persons along with seized items were later handed over to the respective OC, GRP or local police station for further course of action.
In an incident on 20th March, 2024, RPF team of Agartala conducted a routine drive at Agartala railway station. In course of drive, they detected few suspicious persons with bags. On opening the bags, they found ganja weighed around 48 kgs approximately valued near about Rs. 4.80 lakhs. Six persons were apprehended in this connection. Later the apprehended persons along with the recovered Ganja were handed over to GRP of Agartala for further course of action.
Moreover, in different drives and checks conducted from 18th till 21st of March, 2024, RPF of NFR recovered 119 kgs of Ganja from different trains and stations. Eleven persons were also apprehended during the drives with the recovery of Ganja. Later, recovered Ganja along with apprehended persons were handed over to concerned department for further legal action.
It may be mentioned here that RPF of N. F. Railway towards their objective of a drug free country, are constantly on vigil towards activities related to smuggling and transportation of contraband items at various railway stations and trains to make the nation drugs free.
