Scattered Monsoon rain with lightning kills 4 more, injured 7 in past one week
Though, the Southwest Monsoon arrived in the state on June 10th last, but scattered rain instead of incessant rain disturb normal life in different parts of the state with heavy lightning, which has caused two more deaths on Wednesday.
Sources said that on Wednesday afternoon during a short spell of Monsoon rain with heavy lightning at Teliamura, another farmer was killed by lightning strike, when he was busy at his paddy field.
Sources added that the deceased farmer identified as Khokan Malakar (60) of Lembucherra village under Teliamura police station started running from his paddy field along with other farmers when rainfall started at that area in the afternoon, but a strong lightning struck him. Immediately, other farmers noticed the incident and shifted to Teliamura hospital, where the visiting doctor declared him dead.
In another incident of lightning, one killed and two other sustained injuries at Shermoon Tilla of Pecharthal under North Tripura district.
Sources said that when incessant rain along with thunderstorms struck at that area, few labourers busy with daily works at a rubber garden suffered critical injuries due to lightning.
All of them were shifted to Kumarghat subdivision hospital, where one of the labour identified as Shiv Mohini Tripura (26) was declared dead by doctors and two other injured rubber garden workers Naijuana Darlong (40) and Dabarun Tripura (27) were referred to Kailashahar district hospital due to their critical injuries.
It may be recalled here that with the first bout of pre-Monsoon rain on Thursday (June 8th) , which brought respite from scorching heat and long dry spell conditions, has caused two fatalities in Golaghati area of Bishalgarh and Santir Bazar subdivisions in lightning while five other persons sustained injuries and underwent treatment in hospitals.
One farmer identified as Badal Dey (60) , busy with cultivation works in his agriculture field died on the spot after lightning struck him at Gholaghati area and five more persons of Bishalgarh subdivision had also suffered injuries due to lightning. Another youth identified as Shailendra Reang (32) of Devipur village under Santir Bazar subdivision of South Tripura district had also suffered critical lightning injuries, when he was busy in his Jhum field. After severe lightning struck, Shailendra Reang was shifted to Santir Bazar district hospital, where doctors declared him dead. (OVER)
The Meteorological Department (IMD) said that after the arrival of Monsoon in Tripura on June 10th last, the incessant rain across the state caused by ‘Monsoon’ affected normal life , but so far the state not received heavy to very heavy rainfall, only witnesses scattered rainfall.
Sources in the Meteorological Department (IMD) said, conditions are becoming favorable for the advance of Southwest Monsoon across the state.
IMD said that rainfall will continue in most places across Tripura for the next few days with the possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two places in the coming days. IMD has added that rainfall occurred at most places in Tripura with heavy rainfall at isolated places of Unakoti and North Tripura districts during the last 24 hours.
The state capital on Wednesday recorded maximum temperatures of 33.5 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature recorded at 27.8 degrees Celsius. Though the humidity level is at maximum 97 % and minimum at 64 % recorded at the state capital.
