SDM, Food Safety officials raided footpath stalls near Jagannath temple, issued warnings
After reports of contaminated food served in the footpath stalls near Jagannath temple in Agartala, a big and joint team of SDM (Sadar) and Food Safety officials raided and seized many domestic LPG cylinders and has also issued warning against errant traders, who were making confectionary items with pond water.
The authorities of Sadar (SDM) and the Food and Civil Supply department on Monday conducted their raids in footpath stalls near Jagannath temple and took appropriate legal action against errant traders.
During the raids, the team raided all stalls and seized LPG domestic cylinders and issued warning to errant traders, said an official of SDM office.
Later, speaking with media persons, a Food Safety officer said that they have collected food samples selling In the footpath stalls and after laboratory tests, they will take action against stall owners.
She said that major parts of different food items selling in these counters were not covered and they warned the traders to take hygienic steps, else the department will take action as per the law.
