Seminar held with Agar farmers in Dharmanagar
A seminar was organized at Vivekananda Sardhasatabarshiki Bhawan in Dharmanagar with Agar farmers of the state. The seminar conducted by the Forest department was inaugurated by Director-General of Forests & Special Secretary (DGF&SS), Government of India Chandra Prakash Goyal.
Others present in the seminar were Inspector General of Forest R. K. Pandey, PCCF K. S. Sethi, Special Secretary of ARDD Dr. K. Shashi Kumar and high-ranking officials of Forest department. Agar farmers of North Tripura district as well as other districts of the state participated in the seminar. 8 best Agar farmers were awarded in the seminar. Besides, the high-ranking officials of Forest department interacted with Agar farmers. Additional PCCF Praveen Agarwal in the programme said that Tripura Agar Wood Policy has been started in the state on July 19, 2021.
Various decisions and implementations implemented by the Forest department for the convenience of Agar farmers in the past 2 years after starting the Agar Wood Policy in the state were discussed through a power-point presentation. Additional PCCF added that the Forest department has taken 24 decisions in the past 2 years for the welfare of the Agar Wood farmers of the state. He also informed that 20 lakh Agar tree saplings have been planted in the past 2 years. Agar tree saplings were provided to 500 Agar farmers in the past 2 years.
Different rules have been simplified for Agar traders. Welcome speech was delivered by Divisional Forest Officer H. Vignesh.
