Senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi to Tripura soon after violence-hit Manipur
Senior Congress leader and party’s general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will visit Tripura after her visit to Manipur within a short period.
Senior Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman, who has been inducted into the Congress Working Committee (CWC) as a permanent invitee, was felicitated by his supporters at Congress Bhavan in Agartala on Monday and speaking at the felicitation programme, Sudip said that he had discussion with AICC leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra over her visit to the state.
He said that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is scheduled to visit Manipur and Tripura very soon and during her Tripura visit, the Congress leader will visit Tripureswari temple in Gomati district to offer her prayers.
It may be recalled here that Sudip Roy Barman is the first Congress leader from Tripura has been inducted into the CWC, the party's top decision-making body.
While, speaking at felicitation programme, Sudip said that it’s a very proud moment for Tripura and his inclusion in CWC is not only a matter of personal pride, but also the pride of the Congress leaders and workers who have been fearlessly working in Tripura amidst continuous violence and atrocities on them by ruling forces.
He said that the All India Congress Committee (AICC) is now stressing importance on Tripura and Congress will take many steps to strengthen the party at grass-root level. Roy Barman said history is witness that the country faces crisis whenever Congress is weakened and appeals to the people to come forward to strengthen the Congress.
He also appealed to the people of Tripura to strengthen the Congress in every booth of Tripura and all Congress workers and supporters should ensure the defeat of ruling BJP in by-elections for Boxanagar and Dhanpur assembly seats.
During the programme, Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha has expressed his gratitude towards the AICC president and other top leaders of the party for inducting Roy Barman into the CWC.
