Severe Norwester storm accompanied by heavy rainfall swept across Tripura over the past 48 hours, leaving widespread destruction in all eight districts of the state. The strong winds uprooted numerous trees, blocking several roads and disrupting normal life. While authorities have managed to clear some routes, restoration work is still ongoing in several parts of the state.
Despite the heavy rainfall, officials confirmed that all rivers are currently flowing below the danger mark. The highest rainfall recorded was 159 mm in the Kamalpur subdivision of Dhalai district.
Authorities are continuing damage assessment and have initiated relief and restoration measures. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for further unstable weather conditions, forecasting more thunderstorms, gusty winds, and moderate to heavy pre-monsoon rainfall in the coming days.
