Stolen car recovered within 24 hours, lifter arrested
Within 24-hours of the theft of a private car from Agartala city’s thickly populated area Gandhighat, the city police managed to recover the stolen car and have also detained a car lifter.
Giving details, SP(West) Kiran Kumar said that on March 15 night, the private car of Pijush Kanti Sutradhar was stolen away from the main road of Gandhighat area and after registering the complaint, police started investigation.
He said that with the help of Smart City CCTV cameras and police own network, they managed to recover the stolen car from Pragati School area of the city and have arrested the lifter, identified as Arjun Das (25) of Radhanagar Abasan.
On Sunday evening, police handed over the car to its owner and the arrested thief will be forwarded before a local court on Monday for further legal action.
