TCW to ensure protection of women rights, Jharna Debbarma
In order to ensure justice to distressed women and to protect their rights, the Tripura Commission for Women (TCW) with assistance from the National Commission for Women (NCW) are working, said chairperson of TCW.
Addressing a press conference at TCW office, the newly appointed chairperson Jharna Debbarma said that to avoid any kind of untoward incident during festival days, the parents should be very careful over their daughters.
She said that victim families can lodge their complaints directly to the Commission office and they can also register their grievances through post or by e-mail. The victim families can also send their complaints through the website of TCW both in Bengali and in English. The women during any kind of emergency can contact the toll-free number -112 and register their complaint before the police. He said that TCW in association with the Social Welfare and Social Education department, Juvenile Justice Board, Tripura Commission for Child Protection and Child Welfare Committee along with other stakeholders will work to make Tripura-a crime free state of the country and safe place for women. She also stressed an awareness campaign to abolish the menaces of crime against women.
Mrs. Debbarma also said that TCW has also opened a legal aid service centre at TCW office to provide legal services to all victim women. During the press meet, vice-chairperson of TCW, Ashmita Banik and member Madhab Paul were also present.
