Three thieves arrested, recovered large quantities of stolen gold ornaments
The Agartala city police on Thursday in another successful operation managed to detained three members of a thieve gang and recovered large quantities of stolen gold ornaments and cash under their possessions.
Speaking with media persons SP of West Tripura district Kiran Kumar at West Agartala police station on Thursday evening accompanied by OC of police station Jayanta Kumar Dey said that on Wednesday, brother of one Soma Majumder Datta filed a complaint of stolen incident held at his sister house at Ramakrishna Mission lane of Netaji Chowmuhani area under same police station. Smt Soma Majuder Datta and her family left her house on October 23 last for vacation in Kolkata.
But, the neighbours of her house noticed a stolen incident on Wednesday morning and informed her brother, said SP Kiran Kumar and added that after receiving the information, a police team immediately started investigation and raids to trace thieves responsible for this stolen incident.
On Thursday, police get the clue of the stolen incident and based on the information, they detained three suspected thieves including Sayan Sarkar (19) of Bhati Abhoynagar, Aruna Begum (25) of Bhati Abhoynagar and Kajali Sarkar (23) of Vidyasagar colony of Jirania.
In the course of interrogation, they revealed the crime and during robbery at the house of Soma Majumder Datta, these three thieves along with few other had looted different kind of gold ornaments worth of Rs. 5 to 6 lakh and police has recovered ornaments worth of Rs. 4 lakh and cash amount of Rs. 40,000 under their possessions .
Kumar added that soon they will be able to arrest other thieves involved with the incident and will manage to recover other stolen items.
