Three youths died in past 24-hours, two suspected murders
In three separate incidents, three persons were died in three separate parts of the state and the family members of two persons alleged they were killed, while another body was found in hanging condition.
Police sources said that on Saturday midnight, one Samir Bhowmik (34) suffered critical head injuries near Kumarghat petrol pump under Unakoti district and was shifted to a local hospital. After his condition deteriorated, injured Samir was shifted to GB Hospital. But, on Sunday noon succumbed to death due to his critical head injuries.
While, victim family persons alleged that during the incident, Samir had Rs. 1 lakh with him, which has been missing after the accident and they also complain that considering the nature of injuries, it’s not a simple road accident and some foul play behind the death of Samir.
In another incident one 26-year-old young boy named Tapas Roy was severely beaten to death by some local youths owing allegiance to the ruling party in Chelagang Subhash Colony area under Amarpur police station on Friday evening. Later, the family members of the injured boy rescued him and took him to a local hospital. But his condition was critical and he was shifted to GB Hospital for better treatment where succumbed to death on Sunday.
It is alleged that the youths demanded a large amount of Durga Puja subscription, but Tapas Roy's family refused to pay the huge amount of subscription as per their demand. Later on Friday, some youths of the area got together and entered his house and they vandalized the house, then they beat Tapash Roy and his mother. On Sunday morning during treatment Tapas Roy died in the GB Hospital.
Later, his family filed a specific FIR against all miscreants responsible for the death of Tapas, who was an active worker of DYFI.
In the third incident, the local police of Bholagiri area under NCC police station Agartala noticed a body of a young man hanging in a tree and they informed the matter to police. Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body and identified the deceased youth as Ranjit Sarkar (35), by profession a driver.
After autopsy police handed over the body to his relatives and they speaking with media persons said that they are in to total dark over the reason of suicide of Ranjit Sarkar. While, police added that they registered an unnatural death (UD) case and started investigation to unearth the reason for his suicide.
