Total six persons arrested for Kumarghat gang rape case

Amidst political tension issuing aging rape of a16-years old minor girl in Fatikroy area of Unakoti district on last October 20, the police has so far arrested six accused persons including a woman.
Police sources said that on Tuesday, they have arrested one Baptu Das and Rajesh Malakar, who was rented a room in a three storey building located at Kumarghat town, where gang rape was committed on October 20.
Police sources added that based on the complaint filed by the family members of the victim girl, police have arrested six persons. The Superintendent of Police (SP) of Unakoti district, Kanta Jahangir said that the medical examination of the girl has been completed and all legal steps have been taken including recording of the judicial statement of the victim girl. She said that investigation is going on over the gang rape case under section-376(3), 109 of IPC and section-4 of POCSO Act.
Police added that preliminary investigation reveals that the victim girl was allured by her friend (another girl) and was taken to a rented room and was given a drink. Then, miscreants in intoxicated condition gang raped the victim girl.
Police said that they used scientific aid to investigate and other forensic techniques for the investigation and also expressed their gratitude to members of the public who helped in solving the case.
